The dramatic collapse prompted investors to file a class-action lawsuit against those behind the project. The lawsuit targets OverHere Ltd (the company behind $HAWK), its founder Clinton So, an influencer named Alex Larson Schultz (known as “Doc Hollywood”), and the “Tuah the Moon Foundation partypoker.”
“It’s not really that it’s hard to trust people,” Welch told Vanity Fair. “It really makes you sit there and question them more than you probably would have before. Just because you don’t want to get in another pickle.”
Welch, who was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, issued a statement on X, formerly Twitter Friday that read, “I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected, and the broader community.”

The company agreed to a $30 million settlement with the SEC and to cease selling its staking service in the US. The case would impact other major crypto exchanges operating staking programs.
